The Project
Core Environmental Projects was engaged to complete a vapour risk mitigation system re-design at a proposed aged-care development. The site’s history of industrial land use had resulted in significant soil contamination and unacceptable vapour intrusion risks. The remit was to design a cost-effective system while ensuring human health would be protected.
A detailed assessment of the ground conditions and proposed development was initially completed to develop remediation and mitigation options. The final design prepared by Core Environmental Projects utilised advanced modelling to demonstrate acceptable ventilation and system performance, while at the same time minimised soil excavation, cartage and disposal requirements during construction. This resulted in significant cost-savings for the client. The revised vapour risk mitigation system design was successfully endorsed by the Environmental Auditor.
