The Project
Core Environmental Projects provided expert advice in relation to the management of landfill gas risks associated with Uncontrolled Fill (UCF) containing various amounts of waste. A detailed assessment of the fill material, the Total Organic Carbon (TOC) and landfill gas generation modelling were used to develop a site-specific screening and verification process to be adopted during the proposed earthworks, which were necessary as part of a proposed residential development.
By using this pragmatic approach Core Environmental Projects were able to deliver scientifically defensible approach that demonstrated low risk from landfill gas generation at the site and no need for expensive membrane barrier systems. Thus, the solution provided overall cost-savings for the developer while addressing the concerns of the Environmental Auditor.
